Planning one wedding can be stressful. Planning three weddings, which is what Melissa and Jack had to do in 2020, due to COVID, is on a whole other level. Despite the tumultuous year, Melissa and Jack finally said their “I Do’s” surrounded by their closest family and friends, on a scenic mountaintop in Colorado. It was all worth it.
I’m a firm believer that wedding days can look however you want them to, and should reflect your unique relationship. A lot of couples are choosing to skip the traditional wedding day timeline, and plan a day that feels true to them. I love helping couples come up with fun and untraditional wedding day ideas that they resonate with. Melissa and Jack’s wedding day is a great example of how you can mix in adventure, with some traditional elements mixed in.
After being together for nearly 10 years, Melissa and Jack knew they were ready to commit to a life together, but didn’t feel they fit into the mold of what a wedding day “should” look like. Melissa wanted to have guests hike into a secluded spot in the mountains for the ceremony, and I loved helping her find the perfect spot.
The day started out with M + J getting ready in their beautiful remodeled Denver home. We then drove to the Rocky Mountains, where we began our hike into the ceremony spot. On the way, they stopped in an Aspen grove to say their private vows to each other. We then hiked the rest of the way to the overlook, where their family and guests met us. Afterward, we all hiked back down to Lone Hawk Farm outside of Boulder and had a romantic reception. The whole day was infused with so much of their personal style, and turned out perfectly. The wait was definitely worth it!
