Madeline and Brennen reached out to me to help plan their adventurous elopement early in 2021. Their requirements for a location were: somewhere they could bring their dog, have a hike, and somewhere they hadn’t been before.

One of my favorite parts of my job is helping couples narrow down what’s important to them, and then helping make their dream a reality. After researching locations for a while, I suggested an alpine lake in Mammoth, California, and they were stoked! In early June, I went to their cabin around 5 am to photograph Maddy getting ready. We then drove to the trailhead, where Brennen was waiting at the lake. Maddy walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. It was the first time seeing each other in their wedding clothes, and it was such a special moment. The sunrise lit up the mountains behind them, as they said their vows to each other. It was totally quiet except for the few birds chirping. I haven’t experienced such a peaceful morning in quite a long time, and it was such an incredible beginning to their marriage. Following their vows, they did a little fishing, and then we did a three-mile hike around the lake. Maddy was 6 months pregnant at the time and totally rocked it. I absolutely loved getting to work with this adventurous pair.

Mary helped me pick, plan, and make happen the most amazing elopement. We knew having a big wedding wasn’t for us and even though our family wasn’t there on the day through her photos we have been able to visually share our whole day. She helped me pick a place that met all my needs, I was pregnant, wanted to bring my dog, and it was also important to me to get eloped somewhere I have never been to make a new memory. The sunrise ceremony was perfection and the hike was perfect for a 6-month adventurous pregnant woman to do. I can confidently say I have the BEST wedding photos of all time. It was been so special sharing them with our families and friends, cant wait to share the moment with our son, I hope it teaches him it’s ok to be spontaneous and go out to do something different that expresses who you are, or in this case who we are as a couple. All these memories and moments wouldn’t have been possible without Mary.
