Big Sur sits along the pacific ocean on Highway 1 and is known for its dramatic coastline of ocean cliffs, emerald blue water, and redwood forests. Arianna and Ryan got married at one of the most beautiful venues Big Sur has to offer- Point 16, on a beautiful, sunny, warm September day.

Arianna and Ryan got ready in an adorable Airbnb in Carmel-by-the-sea, and then we headed south down highway 1 towards their venue, point 16. Along the way, we stopped at a secret redwood grove, the iconic Bixby bridge, and a couple of pullouts along the highway to capture the stunning Big Sur scenery.

Big Sur is a popular spot, and it can get crowded. I got here a day early to scope out the best spots to stop for photos, and a local photographer friend shared this secret redwood grove location with me.

Standing in a redwood forest is one of the most calming things, and Arianna and Ryan remarked that it felt so peaceful and nice to split up their hectic wedding day by spending some time in the forest. After we did some “forest bathing”, we continued our drive down to the venue, where friends and family were already arriving, preparing for their ceremony and the party that lay ahead.

The rest of the day flowed seamlessly, and we were even treated to a stunning sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy photos from this perfect Point 16 wedding.

Mary’s calm presence was exactly what we needed on an otherwise hectic day. She has a keen eye for memorable candids and we are so impressed with the fleeting moments of emotion she captured. She was a pleasure to work with throughout the whole process. We had a specific vision for a day that resulted in some logistical complexity, and Mary went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. We are so grateful we got to work with her and would hire her again instantly
